My first published work was entitled Life on a String—a coming-of-age tale about a boy named Kevin and his dragon kite. The kite, which spoke in fiery sentences punctuated with bursts of smoke, eventually convinced Kevin to release it from its stringed prison.
Kevin learned a lesson that day. I like to think we all did. I was in first grade when I wrote that story.
Admittedly, it was self-published.
I majored in creative writing at Northwestern University. Since 2000, I’ve been writing articles for various regional and national magazines; and marketing copy for the hospitality, travel and wedding industries.
